ROCKULTURA speaks for the rock music and Filipino culture that has deeply shaped our very own Pinoy Rock Culture and continually defines our generation.

Dynamic and adaptive to the times as it is, rock music has evolved since it emerged in the 40’s and 50’s from the so-called “rock-n-roll”, to “slow and glam,”“punk,” “hard/metal” rock, and so on. In the UP Fair-speak, ROCKULTURA serves as a tribute to this legacy and to the Original Pinoy Music (OPM) rock bands which have been part of this rock culture.

Wednesday Fair Night, February 11

On February 11, the UP Sunken Garden will be the venue for a night of loud and lively music and unparalleled entertainment, as the UP Alpha Sigma Fraternity presents Amplified: The UP Masig Fair Night. From dusk until the break of dawn, the UP Alpha Sigma Fraternity, in cooperation with Globe Telecom, Dental First, and Pag-Ibig Fund bring to the entire UP Diliman community a night of sound, rhythm and rocking music. This event also marks a milestone for the fraternity, as it hosts its tenth UP Fair night in more than a decade.

The night will feature some of the country’s biggest bands, including Kamikazee, Chicosci, Urbandub, Moonstar 88, Typecast and a host of other great bands that are sure to rock the UP Sunken Garden. The night will indeed be one to remember, as Parokya Ni Edgar performs exclusively on this night for the entire UP community. So on February 11 2009, get ready to live loud, and get Amplified.

UP Brotherhood of the Filipinos present RAMBOL: Rock against violence. RAMBOL stresses the call for the pursuit of peace, and the end of violence. the final venue has not been confirmed.
and the promoters are still dealing with the tickets and crowd control
issues.

a few thoughts
no i dont miss playing drums. i have a drumkit set up in the house and
i play all the time. i have a lot of drum gear, percussion and drum
machines.

i love playing drums.
i even play percussion in church on sundays when i can.
diego cas and mong have drumkits and we make a lot of noise and jam.
mike d has a vistalite (see thru) vintage kit. really cool and really loud.

we used it in mayrics last week.
i love playing drums for cambio.we played 2 gigs last night.
on occasion im honored to play drums for sugarfree, chicosci,imago,duster and the dawn.

i get asked this a lot.
im sorry i dont mean to offend but i dont miss the eheads or get senti
about it. it was a college band that turned into something we could not control. the music lives.

but thats just me.
im also a big music fan and i know how it means to other people so please dont send me hate mail. haha. im really not a bad person. its just a gig.

yes we all agreed to play 1 gig but were minimizing the drama.
i will give it 110 percent. thats the sandwich way.
if i give any less diego will kick my butt on stage.

i can't sleep. it's another one of those miserable sleepless nights when paranoia just creeps up on you like a bad song you've heard over and over that you just can't shake it off from your head just like that anymore. i hate nights like these, nights where every imagined scenario becomes a rehearsal for tragedy. i hate it when i worry about even the most mundane of things and i imagine even the most far-fetched (or perhaps not) of scenarios, like i'm trying to prepare myself for when if any of these bad things might actually happen. but what's really bothering about all this is that even if i try to prepare as much as i can, in the end if tragedy does happen, it's always tragic, it always catches you off-guard even though in your head you've prepared for it hundreds of times. and that's what's worrying me. i'm never good with tragedies. i've never been that person who could just look at the bright side of things and be just all peachy after a few days or so. i wallow, i wallow and drown myself in a bottomless pit of misery until i can't feel anymore, until i'm all numb and negative and bitter and then i start to hate myself cause then i have tendency to just contradict myself and self-destruct. i go about saying really profound things about love and life and living and self-worth but ultimately when it comes to my own life, my issues, i don't know shit. is it just me or is everybody else just as lost and clueless as i am? or maybe i just really need to get some sleep...

PLAY.. is that really the answer? I don't think so, cause I do believe in karma and boy it's amazing how it can just sneak up on you in the most unexpected of moments. And although I understand how tiring it is to be a victim, be it of a certain situation or of a certain person, (believe me, been there, done that), I don't think playing around will actually solve anything. Maybe for some it will make things easier, simpler, but for me, no. I just don't think I can stomach playing with other people's emotions, cause I've been there, I know just how bad it feels to get played with. I don't think I can also be in a meaningless relationship with someone who's just playing around, because things won't always stay as simple as you want them to be. Eventually things will change and evolve to (god forbid) something complicated that you end up digging a hole for yourself and you don't even notice until its too late (been there as well). I told my friend I'd rather be a victim of someone else than be a victim of my own foolish actions. But when I think about it, most of the time, we become victims of both without even fully realizing it. So, in the end when we put karma, stupidity and consequences into the picture, I think all of us fall prey to ourselves, we are our own VICTIMS, some are volunteers, while some are totally caught offguard. The fact is, there are no easy rules or certain paths to follow when it comes to relationships or emotions for that matter, sometimes we just have to make the best of the cards that we're dealt with and hope we survive...
